‘Walang Forever’ wins best picture award, ‘My Bebe Love’ tops early box office gross as Metro filmfest breaks record

The ongoing Metro Manila Film Festival has broken last year’s box office record with a gross sales of tickets of P380 million in only three days since opening on Christmas Day.
This was learned from Dominic Du, a member of the Metropolitan Manila Film Festival (MMFF) executive committee, who said that the three-day box office gross earnings of P380 million was higher than last year’s P364 million for the same period. Continue reading
PHL now has 415 classified caves

QUEZON CITY – The country now has a total of 415 classified caves, which the government is required to preserve and ensure their sustainable use.
This developed as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has classified an additional 51 caves to guide communities on their responsible management. Prior to this, 364 caves had already been classified by the agency according to their characteristics. Continue reading

Pope Francis condemns killings in Mindanao

MANILA — Pope Francis has condemned the “senseless attacks” that killed at least nine civilians in Southern Philippines recently.
In a telegram sent to Cardinal Orlando Quevedo of the Cotabato Archdiocese by the Pontiff’s Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Holy Father said he was saddened by the killings. Continue reading

The Dr. Jose Rizal Monument was the brain child of the late Sir Roberto Roque and Lady Herminia Roque of the Order of the Knights of Rizal, Malaya Chapter. Conceived in 1994, the initial plan was to purchase a bronze statue at $65,000.
