Acclaimed director Marilou Diaz Abaya passes away

Local showbiz is in mourning again. This time with the passing of acclaimed director Marilou Diaz Abaya after months of battling breast cancer. Abaya died at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Taguig. SC junks all petitions on Corona’s impeachment

MANILA — The Supreme Court has dismissed all the petitions questioning the impeachment case filed against former Chief Justice Renato Corona. In a three-page en banc resolution, the SC said there is no need anymore to discuss the constitutional issues as to the case including the surrounding questions as to the legality of the signatures of the 188 congressmen who filed the impeachment complaint against Corona.

PASAY CITY – Vice President Jejomar C. Binay will lead the Philippine contingent to the canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod on Oct. 21 at the Vatican City in Rome. The Vice President will represent President Benigno S. Aquino III and witness Pope Benedict XVI install the country’s second saint.
