When The “Monsters” Met The “Merchants of Death” – Gun Violence in America –

by Paul Ballard
January 1, 2013
Like you, I was deeply shocked by the appalling gun massacres recently in Newtown CT and Webster NY. What are we to make of these? And what should now be done to prevent future such tragedies? President Obama has tasked Vice-President Biden and a task-force to talk to concerned parties and propose more effective gun regulation in America. We all now await their recommendations. A month has passed, since the horrific Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting in Connecticut, yet, the debate on gun control continues to gain heat in the media. You can’t turn on your television sets without hearing a debate on the subject – prompting some members of the NRA (National Rifles Association) to go extreme on the defensive mode. Continue reading

THE TAXMAN COMETH!

by Fred C. Wilson III
January 16, 2013
This tax season will be one for the books. Tax laws change so frequently that the Internal Revenue Service seems slow in keeping up. Some tax pros suggest taxpayers delay filing until March, reason being, tax codes are still undergoing revision. As of this writing the IRS announced five changes for the 2012 tax year. Striking Gold All Around

by Nelia Dingcong Bernabe
January 16, 2012
I watched my husband grin from ear to ear as he walked out of Staples Center in Los Angeles on Christmas Day after watching his first ever NBA game. In the land of purple and gold, he fit right in. He was with his people and he looked like he just struck gold. Continue reading

In Defense Of The National Rifle Association of America (NRA)

by Don Azarias
January 16, 2013
Having been a Life Member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) for more than four decades, it behooves me to respond to some of those unfounded allegations and criticisms directed against the NRA by people who are grossly influenced by their disdain and contempt for an organization that they have limited conception or are completely ignorant of. And there are some who are simply swayed by their preconceived notion. Continue reading
