Carmelita Cochingco Ballesteros, Ph.D.

LIFELONG LEARNERS – Carmelita C Ballesteros, who earned her Ph.D. in Literature from the University of Santo Tomas , Manila , Philippines , is a Visiting Lecturer in the English Language and Literature Academic Group at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore .

She teaches Communication Skills for Teachers, Academic Discourse Writing, and Children’s Literature. She is a published author of books and audio cassettes on pronunciation and speech communication for primary and secondary schools in the Philippines .

Before joining NIE, she taught at De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines; Da-Yeh University, Changhua, Taiwan; and at the Regional Language Centre (RELC), Singapore.

She has been writing the column, “Lifelong Learners”, for FilamMegaScene since 2003.
