A Christmas Prayer

December 16, 2011
God Almighty, all praises and honor belong to you and your Son, especially on this day of His birth. You have blessed us mightily with your infinite love, kindness, mercy and forgiveness. You have showered us with provision, healing, protection, wisdom and everything we need to live a life that’s full, complete and meaningful.
We know, Lord, that quite often, despite our knowledge of your wishes and commandments, we knowingly or unknowingly disobey you and break your laws and all because we submit to our earthly desires and needs. And when things don’t go our way, we give in to our emotions and human frailties. Worse, we blame you and turn away from you as if doing so would make things better for us or that we could either hurt you or get even with you.
We pray Lord, for forgiveness and for genuine wisdom to understand your will. Give us the power to comprehend what our human minds cannot fathom. Grant us the strength to fight evil and wrong and the courage to stand for what’s right and just. Equip us, Lord with patience to wait on your promise.
This Christmas, we pray for those who are hurting and grieving. May they find comfort in your Word, Lord and in the truth that in your Kingdom, you have prepared a room for their dearly departed ones. That in your kingdom, they will hurt no more, instead, they will find peace and happiness far beyond their human life had ever known.
We pray for indigent families who are wanting in so many things that they may find people who can help them find relief, support and opportunities to change their lot. We pray for mothers and/or fathers or family members who have been separated from their loved ones in search of opportunities. May those who are lucky to be home with their families cherish the moment and save the memories of their visit to sustain them till their next visit. And may those who have not known the pain of separation learn to value the company of their loved ones even more.
Fill our leaders, Lord, with sincere and noble intentions, genuine desire for public service and distaste for lies and political rhetoric. Make them speak the truth, do what is fair and just and perform their duties and responsibilities with nothing in mind but working for the greater good.
Imbue your people, Lord, with hunger for you for in you they will find unfailing and overflowing love, completeness and everlasting peace.
May the spirit of Christmas fill the world with pure joy, compassion and lasting harmony.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
