CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Many expensive cars and motorcycles stolen in Texas and elsewhere in the United States have ended up in Mindanao.
This surfaced as a custom Martin Brothers Harley Davidson worth P3.4 million belonging to Hollywood screenwriter Skip Woods which was stolen in Texas was recovered in Bukidnon house of a Filipino who is a permanent US resident.
The recovery of the bike led to the recovery of at least 25 other luxury vehicles, presumably stolen in the US and shipped to Mindanao via Mexico and Los Angeles.
The motorcycle of Woods was found by the National Bureau of Investigation and police authorities, along with American private investigators from Orion Support Inc. (OSI), in the house of businessman Lynard Allan Saliring Bigcas in Talakag, Bukidnon. Bigcas is now being linked to international terrorist group as supplier of arms and ammunitions.
The NBI operatives also discovered other luxury vehicles and an arms cache in Bigcas’ two houses in Mindanao in a raid conducted last May 3.
Woods was the writer of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Die Hard 5, Swordfish, The A-Team. NBI officials said Woods initially sought the help of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after his motorcycle was stolen in Houston last year.
Investigation showed that Bigcas was merely using the importation of luxury vehicles as a front for gun smuggling after a receipt was found during the raid for the sale of P1-million worth of M-4 assault rifles.
Investigation showed that Bigcas and his family are permanent US residents.
Philippine and US authorities are now expanding their probe into the stealing and smuggling of cars from the US to Mindanao. Also being investigated are the smuggling of arms in the region.
