MANILA – Former Sen. Manuel Roxas II will after all join the Cabinet of President Benigno S. Aquino III.
The Chief Executive himself made the disclosure, saying his defeated running mate in the 2010 elections, would serve as his de facto chief of staff when the one-year ban on appointing losing candidates is lifted on June 30.
Aquino said Roxas will serve with Cabinet rank, adding his exact title will still be defined.
It was learned an executive order will be issued to define the role of the chief of staff.
Former colleagues of Roxas in the Senate lauded his impending appointment.
Another Aquino ally who is expected to get a Cabinet post is former Bukidnon congressman Nereus Acosta, a defeated senatorial candidate in the 2010 elections
