Enteng and Agimat join forces for Metro filmfest

Two top grossers in the Metro Manila Film Festival have joined forces for one movie which many predict would be a blockbuster.

Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla, who was top grosser in last year’s filmfest with his “Ang Panday” and also topnotcher in last May’s senatorial elections, stars with comedian Vic Sotto, the top grosser in previous years, in “Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote,” one of the entries in this year’s film festival which opens before Christmas.

Vic was quoted by veteran columnist Mario Bautista as saying that doing a film with the senator has long been planned.

“Laging magkalaban sa filmfest ang movies namin, but friendly competition and everytime we see each other, ‘Lika, gawa tayo.’’ he said.

“Finally, heto’t natuloy na sa ‘Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote.’ I congratulated him when ‘Panday’ became number one last year at ‘Darling Kong Aswang’ naman ang entry ko. Du’n na namin binuo itong project at nagtulong kami sa ideas how to do it,” Vic added.

Vic is billed ahead of Bong. Was there ever a problem about billing?

“None, hindi naging issue ‘yan,” declared Vic.

Mario Bautista also quoted Vic as saying: “Una ako kasi mas senior naman talaga ako.”

Vic added: “Bong and I discovered we had so many similarities like attitude sa trabaho na pareho kaming seryoso. Pareho rin kaming maasikaso sa tao but I noticed mas maasikaso pa siya. Madali kaming nagkapalagayan ng loob. Walang sapawan sa trabaho kundi teamwork kasi ang gusto naming, mapaganda ang movie.”

“Konti na nga lang, magiging magsyota na kami, nadevelop kami at muntik na kami mag-kissing scene, pinigil lang ni Direk Tony Reyes,” he jokes.

Since they’re joining forces, is there a pressure to be top grosser? asked Mario Bautista.

Vic has a ready answer: “Wala, we just did our best dahil ang gusto naming, masiyahan ang viewers. But of course, mas maganda if we could help to make the whole filmfest break its past records sa takilya.”

The comedy king has a new leading lady as Faye, Gwen Zamora, replacing Kristine Hermosa who’d soon be his daughter-in-law.

How is Gwen? “She’s good and has a promising future in the industry. She acts well and is willing to learn lalo in speaking Tagalog. She’s very hardworking din. Naglalagari sa shooting namin sa Tanay to the taping of ‘Grazilda’ in Baguio.”

He also has a new Ina Magenta, Amy Perez. “We’re trying to get G Toengi again but she’s not available so we got Amy instead. Hot siya ngayon because of her ‘Face to Face’ on TV and her radio show. Hindi kami nagkamali getting her as she delivered well.”
