Dumlao clears Lacson in Dacer, Corbito murders

Aug 6, 2010

MANILA – A former officer of the defunct Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force (PAOCTF) has cleared Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson of any involvement in the murders of noted publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito about 10 years ago. The charred remains of Dacer and Corbito were found in a ravine in Indang, Cavite in November 2000.

Former police Supt. Glenn Dumlao has told Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 32 Presiding Judge Thelma Bunyi-Medina that Lacson has nothing to do with the abduction and subsequent execution of Dacer and Corbito.

Dumlao told the court that he was just forced to link Lacson in the Dacer-Corbito double murder case by the Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP). The DOJ is now coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) for the cancellation of Philippine passport issued to Lacson. Lacson was the PNP chief and PAOCTF chief when Dacer and Corbito were killed. The senator flew out of the country on Jan. 5, 2010 even before the court could have issued an arrest warrant against him and resolved his motion for judicial determination of probable cause. Lacson’s last known whereabouts is Rome, Italy. Lacson’s name remains in the “red notice” list of the Interpol.
