Cinemalaya festival features 2 Lovi Poe films

PASAY CITY — Singer/Actress Lovi Poe is busy as a bee. She has two films which are now being exhibited in the Cinemalaya festival at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) in Pasay City. First is the Joel Lamangan megged “Sigwa” where Lovi plays a student activist who is raped. This is Lovi’s second film for director Lamangan, after the highly acclaimed “Sagrada Familia”, where she played an incest victim.

This early, Lovi is reaping praises for her performance. Mario Bautista says, “Lovi is superb!”. Lovi’s second entry is the coming of age drama about innocent love entitled “Mayohan”. This film, about the events occurring between a young boy and a teenaged girl during the Mayohan festivities in Quezon, was directed by Dan Villegas. Film enthusiasts are calling “Mayohan” a delightful film. “Mayohan”’s screening schedules are as follows: July 12, 6 pm at the Tanghalang Huseng Batute, July 14, 9 PM at the CCP MKP Hall, July 15, 12:30 at the CCP Main Theater, July 17, 9 PM at the CCP MKP Hall, and July 18, 3 PM at the CCP MKP Hall.

“Sigwa”, on the other hand, will be shown on the following dates: July 14, !2:30 at the CCP Main Theater, July 15, 12:30 pm at the CCP MKP Theaer, July 16, 9 PM at Tanghalang Huseng Batute, and July 17, 3 PM at CCP Little Theater.

She is now preparing for GMA 7’s “Love Bug” which will pair her for the first time with Rocco Nacino.
