His consular jurisdiction comprises the states of: Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, the Dakotas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Illinois with headquarters at Downtown, Chicago. Unlike what I falsely assumed a high end diplomat to be, Mr. Herrera-Lim was approachable and had a natural talent of putting people at ease, a quality many, if not most people (your writer included) sorely lack. The other essential factors are their daily physical activities, abstinence from harmful substances, like tobacco and illegal drugs, and disciplined intake of alcoholic beverages. While genetics play a role in all this, it has been proven that a healthy lifestyle can significantly benefit even those individuals with some of the so-called « bad » genetic trait. Filipino-Americans add color to Chicago

The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago hosted the successful unveiling of the art exhibit by 7 Filipino American artists, entitled “The Filipino As An Artist in Chicago”, at 30 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60602. The art exhibit, which runs for the entire month of October, is one of the highlights of the celebration of “Filipino American History Month” and the 15th “Chicago Artists Month”.

Wife Surprises Husband on his 50th Birthday

Marissa Espinosa of Lincolnwood (also of Lincolnshire , where she works at Wealshire/Ponds Care Center) decided it would make her husband Ted Costa’s 50th birthday more memorable if she’d surprise him with a party. She picked Chicago ’s Café Marbella, serving the best authentic Spanish tapas in town, as the venue of their celebration. Together with close relatives and cherished friends, Marissa greeted the “pretending to be surprised” Ted a heartfelt Happy Birthday. GMA faces P1.8-B plunder raps

MANILA (PinoyNews) – Former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is facing plunder charges in connection with the sale of the old Iloilo airport to Megaworld for P1.8 billion.

Arroyo personally appeared before the prosecutors of the Department of Justice (DOJ) to deny the charges.

Lacson’s office ‘closed’ by Senate

MANILA (PhilstodayNews) – The Senate has virtually dissolved the office of  Senator Panfilo Lacson as it suspended his salary and the budget for his office.
