Lacson’s office ‘closed’ by Senate

MANILA (PhilstodayNews) – The Senate has virtually dissolved the office of  Senator Panfilo Lacson as it suspended his salary and the budget for his office.

Senator Lacson

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile signed a memorandum cutting the senator’s salary and the budget of his office after a caucus on the matter with senators.

Two senators, who asked not to be named, admitted it is getting hard for the Senate to justify Lacson’s pay and budget since he is nowhere to be found.

Enrile’s memorandum ordered the suspension Lacson’s salary, amounting to P36,000 a month, and the monthly office budget of P2 million.

The memo added: “All Lacson personnel shall continue to perform services for the Senate under supervision and control of the Senate secretary,” and the suspension will be implemented until such time that Lacson is able to fully perform his duties as a senator
