apl.de.ap, Jessica Sanchez team up in video recording -‘JUMP IN’-

By JO ERLINDA G. NEBRES
Good news to fans of popular Filipino American rapper apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas and teenage FilAm singing sensation Jessica Sanchez.
The rapper and Jessica have recorded a song together with accompanying video entitled “Jump In” and their song has gone viral since it was premiered on YouTube.
Apl.de.ap, Allan Pineda Lindo Jr. in real life who was born in Angeles City, was awarded last week The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) award together with other leaders. President Aquino himself presented the award to him.

Jessica, whose mother hails from Bataan province, is preparing for her first solo concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City on Valentine’s Day, February 14. She will be backed by fellow American Idol finalist Colton Dixon in the show.
According to published reports in Manila, the song’s video was shot in several settings like a classroom, a warehouse party, a gymnasium and even the woods.
The video also features several Filipino kids and seems to be partly inspired by “Glee,” the American top-rated musical series that has signed Jessica to appear in a recurring role in its new season, according to the report.
Directed by Canadian music video director Marc André Debruyne, “Jump In” was originally intended to be a promotional video for Smart Communications. Already an endorser for Jollibee and Bench, Jessica was also rumored to become an official endorser of Smart, although no official announcement has been made on the matter.
According to an announcement, “Jump In” also has a similar look and feel to “It’s Your Life,” the music video by Somedaydream and Champ Lui Pio featuring Luigi D’ Avola that was also produced for Smart’s Live More campaign.
Jessica is now in thick preparations for her Valentine’s concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. She, too, is readying for the shooting of the top show, “Glee,” where she has been tapped to appear.
The Filipino-American singing sensation from Chula Vista in San Diego County, California made the revelation in her video chat with her fans in Manila last week, ABS-CBN reported.
The February concert will be the second show of teener at the Araneta Coliseum. Last September, American Idol winner Phillip Philips, runner-up Sanchez and the other finalists of the popular talent show performed there in what was billed as the final stop of the world tour of the American Idol finalists.
Jessica will be the star of the show this time, and she will be backed up by one of the finalists, Colton Dixon. It was not immediately known if there will be local talents who will join the two in the show.
The 17-year-old singer, who loves “adobo,” and “pancit” and likes “balut,” whose mother hails from Bataan, was mobbed during her first visit in Manila where she appeared also in two product endorsements for Jollibee and Bench.
She was expected last September to visit her mother’s hometown but because of a hectic schedule she was not able to visit Bataan. She vowed, however, to do it in next visit, especially if she has the time.
Jessica disclosed to her fans in her video chats with them that she was looking forward to performing before her Filipino fans once again.
“[I’ll be doing] a couple of songs. It’s gonna be fun. I’ve been practicing. I’m excited for my Valentine’s concert. I really can’t wait. I’m been preparing for the past couple of weeks. I’ll be with Colton Dixon,” she said as reported by ABS-CBN.
Jessica, however, refused to fully disclose the details of her show, including her songs and other numbers.
“I’m still going to be on ‘Glee.’ I can’t wait for that. It’s gonna be so much fun,” Jessica added.
As for her debut album, she said: “Next time I do this (video chat) — which is going to be soon again — I’ll give you a sneak peek of what’s going to be on my album. I will sing for you. But for now, it is still a secret.”
It was learned that Jessica will begin taping for “Glee” this month and her multi-episode arc will be shown in May.
Her album, meanwhile, is reportedly slated for release during the first quarter of 2013.
Jessica also used Twitter to express how elated she is to be on the cover of fashion magazine Mega’s January 2013 issue.
In her most recent tweet, she said: “So blessed to be on the cover of Mega Magazine :)”
She also posted a photo of the magazine cover, which shows her wearing a black form-fitting cocktail dress with gold embroidery.
Sanchez was photographed by ace lensman Mark Nicdao for her first magazine cover, with styling by Patrick Galang, LA Ferriols and Jef Fronda.
According to the official Mega Facebook page, Jessica is “one of the country’s biggest news makers for 2012” and “a global Filipina loved and idolized by millions.”
Mega added that the inside story will discuss heer background and plans for the future after her stint in the hit talent show “American Idol.”
