Longest zipline opens in North Cotabato

Gov. Mendoza to lead the groundbreaking rites for longest zipline in Southeast Asia.

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Governor Emmylou “Lala” Talino-Mendoza led the groundbreaking ceremonies for the 1.2-kilometer zipline at New Israel, Makilala, North Cotabato, which is touted as the longest in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia.
The governor said the zipline is 360 meters high to 920 meters above sea level and extends up to 1.2 kilometers from Barangay New Israel to Barangay Buhay of the municipality.
According to Provincial Tourism Focal Person Ralph Ryan Rafael, the Provincial Government of North Cotabato has allocated a P5.8-million budget for the construction of the project.
Rafael said this is part of the banner program of Gov. Mendoza in promoting tourism in the province.
He said the zipline is added to other tourist spots in the province, like the water tubing in Alamada, Pisan cave in Kabacan and hot spring in Lake Agco in Kidapawan City.
Mendoza said in order to reach the zipline area, a place for horseback riding and lounges for the adventurers will also be put up.
