E.R. proud of Metro filmfest entry ‘El Presidente’

One of the most anticipated entries in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival is “El Presidente: The Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Story” from Scenema Concepts International and released by Viva Films.
The period movie stars Laguna Gov. ER “Jeorge Estregan” Ejercito playing the role of controversial figure Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo. Joining him in the cast are Christopher de Leon as Gen. Antonio Luna, Cesar Montano as Supremo Andres Bonifacio, Cristine Reyes as his first wife and superstar Nora Aunor as his second wife. The movie is directed by Mark Meily and features two theme songs “El Presidente” composed by Apple D’App of Black-Eyed Peas and sang by Apple D’App with heavy metal band Slapshock and “Aking Inang Bayan” by Pagsanjan Mayor Maita Ejercito.
“El Presidente” is the second entry to the filmfest of Gov. ER. Last year, his entry, “Asiong Salonga,” was voted as the best picture and won most of the awards.
The story of “El Presidente” is the result of months of intensive research. The product is a movie that runs for two hours and forty-five minutes, with the production remaining historically faithful, Malaya reported.

“Masisira ang essence pag pinaigsian,” explained Gov. E.R., “Gustuhin man naming makipagsabayan sa ibang entries on the usual running time but we believe more on the quality of the film.
“Pag pinanood mo naman ang movie, hindi ka maiinip dahil bawat eksena ay may katuturan. The actors are all good and the story is fantastic. Kaya nga kami endorsed ng DepEd and Ched because sobrang tino ng movie. You shouldn’t miss this film. Dito natin matutungbayan ang mga bagay-bagay sa history books natin – why these things happened and so on and so forth,” he said.
“Ipapakita sa pelikula ang ilang mahahalagang kaganapan sa Philippine history natin during Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo’s time,” the governor added.
The movie covers several momentous events in the nation’s past, like The Tejeros Convention – the first national elections; Pact of Biak Na Bato; the Treaty of Paris; the summary execution of Supremo Andres Bonifacio; and the summary execution of Gen. Antonio Luna, among others.
“We are not changing history but we would like to make history in filmmaking. Mataas ang standard ng moviegoing public natin kaya we are offering a decent and entertaining film for all of them. We would like to be remembered as producers ng magagandang pelikula. Kaya kahit sobrang taas ng production cost naming, hindi na naming iniinda dahil sobrang ganda naman ang kinalabasan. I am just so proud to be a Filipino after watching our movie. I’m sure the whole country will love ‘El Presidente,’ too,” said producers Mylene Enriquez and Gov. ER.
