QUEZON CITY – Former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo  has a life-threatening condition that needs immediate medical operation abroad.
And due to her medical condition, Congresswoman Arroyo may not seek reelection in the second district of Pampanga which covers the towns of Lubao, Sasmuan, Guagua, Floridablanca, Sta. Rita and Porac. She won overwhelmingly in the district in the last elections against three opponents.
Ang Galing Pinoy party-list Rep. Juan Miguel Arroyo may run for his old post, but there  nothing was definite on the political plans of the Arroyos.
At press time, Arroyo has not filed a petition in court seeking medical treatment abroad but President Aquino already came out in the open saying he would oppose her bid even if allowed by court.
In Davao City, President Aquino assured  that he will do everything he can to block the attempt of Arroyo to seek medical surgery abroad, noting that she no longer has credibility over purported life-threatening illnesses.
“If the court allows her to leave, then we will do something to make sure that justice won’t be delayed,” Aquino said.
The President said the wheels of justice should not be “postponed indefinitely until she decides to come back to the country.”
Mrs. Arroyo’s life-threatening condition was confirmed after undergoing the Quantum electrochemistry examination conducted by cardiologist Robert Anastacio at the Makati Medical Center last week.
The life-threatening condition was due to complications arising from her earlier surgery to treat her neck ailment, a source close to the Arroyo family.
Another source said Mrs. Arroyo has been suffering choking sensation due to the titanium implant that has protruded to her esophagus.
Last week, a close ally of the Arroyos, Rep. Amelita Villarosa, said Arroyo was experiencing difficulties in eating and swallowing her food and shortness of breath due to the titanium implant that has protruded to her esophagus.
Arroyo underwent a cervical spine surgery last year at St. Lukes Medical Center in Fort Bonifacio Global City.
Mrs. Arroyo is currently detained at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center for her electoral sabotage case. She is also facing plunder and graft cases.
