July 2, 2010 PASAY CITY – Is Senator Panfilo Lacson ready to surface despite being wanted for the murder of Bubby Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito?
Reports reaching the Senate here said that Lacson would return to the country after June 30.
This prompted outgoing Senator Rodolfo Biazon to advise his colleague to postpone his comeback until August or September when the Senate and the Aquino administration shall have fully organized and are functioning normally.
The outgoing Biazon voiced apprehension that Lacson’s return may trigger a turmoil or controversy which the new administration and the Senate may not properly handle at a time when both institutions are still in the process of being organized.
He pointed out that President Benigno Aquino III has just appointed the officials of his administration while Congress will convene and organize only by the fourth week of July.
Perhaps, L a c s o n should return when things in the executive branch have settled, m e a n i n g members of Aquino’s official family have all been a p p o i n t e d and functioning and Congress has convened. In this way, these two government institutions would be able to react and respond to the situation properly,” Biazon said.
Earlier, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile said he was sure that Lacson, who had gone into hiding abroad since January, would come home after Aquino shall have assumed the presidency on June 30.
