MRT, LRT stop operations?

MANILA — The country’s three mass rail systems stopped operation on Tuesday due to power interruptions and strong winds brought about by typhoon Pedring.

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) said the agency immediately suspended the operation of both LRT Lines 1 and 2 for safety reasons.

“We are experiencing strong winds, flying debris, massive Meralco power interruptions that pose serious risks to passengers and trains,” said an LRTA spokesperson.

“We also want to avoid passengers being stranded in between stations during train stoppage which is dangerous under the circumstances,” he added
