Ruffa’s billboards ‘banned’ at NAIA

Did you know that billboards of former beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez for Belo Group were banned recently at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport?

The reason: officials found her photos in the billboard for Bodytite “too sexy” and might distract pilots of airplanes coming in and out of the airport.

Showbiz authority Mario Bautista reported on the ban in his latest column, adding that the comely television host and actress merely shrugged off the ban.

Although surprised with the ban, Ruffa claimed that her photos in the billboard “were not really that sexy.”

”To begin with, it’s all been approved by the ASC or Advertising Standard Council,” she stressed. “I’ve seen more daring provocative fotos and campaigns from both foreign and local brands that also passed but no one complained.”

Ruffa, however, pointed out that she and Belo Group respect the ban, but will come out with new billboards no longer using the controversial photos while on swimsuit.

According to Mario Bautista, Ruffa is happy with the positive comments her performance as the domineering and scheming network executive called Ms. O is getting in “Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak.”

She said:  “Nakakatuwa talaga kasi there are those who say na inaabangan nila talaga ako in the show pati kung ano ang isusuot ko,” she says. “That’s why I really make an effort na iba-iba ang outfits and accessories that I wear in each episode. I have my own stylist to help me with my wardrobe and for my jewelry, I even borrowed all my mom’s (Annabelle Rama) jewelry na may flowers in it kasi nga kailangang may bulaklak pati sa mga alahas na sinusuot ko.” She showed us the big flower ring on her finger studded with diamonds. “Like this one, kay Mommy ito, hiniram ko lang. But inaabangan din pati ‘yung mga tarayan ng iba’t ibang characters sa show, kasama na kami ni Valerie Concepcion who’s my rival over my husband Richard Gomez. And yes, nagulat ako, finally, binigyan kami ni Goma ng bedscene with torrid kissing. Nailang ako as I haven’t done that kind of eksena for so long.”

Meanwhile, Ruffa’s brother Richard and parents Anabel Rama and Eddie Gutierrez were set to fly to the United States for a well deserved vacation and to see the fight of world boxing icon Manny Pacquiao against American fighter Shane Mosley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 7.

To be able to fly to US, Richard and his “Captain Barbel” co-stars led by Lovi Poe have been advancing tapings for the GMA Network show.

Richard will be taping every day until May 4, then he leaves with his parents for the US.

”Kaya kailangang makapag-stock kami ng maraming episodes ng ‘Captain Barbell’ bago ako umalis for the States,” he said.
