ShareThisILOILO CITY — Sweet-punching Ilonggo boxing sensation Denver “the Excitement” Cuello retained his WBC International Featherweight Crown Saturday, at the Ynares Gym in Angono, Rizal by coasting to a masterful ninth round TKO over brawler 3K Chayong Battery of Thailand in a 10-round fight.
Cuello, who exerted his dominance over the tough Thai even in the early rounds unleashed a barrage of unanswered combinations to the head and body at the start of the ninth frame which prompted the referee to step in and declare the visibly battered Thailander as no longer fit to continue midway in the round.
With his victory, Cuello is eyeing juicer fight contracts in the future, as the gung-ho pugilist from Cabatuan, Iloilo has what it takes to regale the fickle international crowd.
This early, promoters are pondering whether to hold Cuello’s next bout in his native province of Iloilo either in June or July this year.
