Pacquiao to outbox Mosley – Roach

World boxing icon Manny Pacquiao will beat American fighter Shane Mosley during their fight at MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 7.

This was stressed by multi-awarded trainer Freddie Roach as he revealed that the world’s pound-for-pound king will resort to precision punching and movement to clobber Mosley.

Pacquiao has started the heavy phase of his training with sparring session at the Shape Up Gym in Baguio City.

Pacquiao (52-3-2 win-loss-draw with 38 knockouts) will be fitted against his sparring partners Shawn Porter and David Rodela in Baguio.

“The key (to a victory) is to outbox Shane Mosley,” said Roach.

The American trainer pointed out that Mosley, with a 46-6-1 win-loss-draw with 39 knockouts card anddespite being a crafty fighter, can be outboxed, as shown by what Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto did to him. Mayweather weathered an early storm and dominated Mosley en route to a lopsided decision in May last year, while Cotto scored a unanimous but close decision win over him in November 2007.

Pacquiao had defeated Cotto in their fight.

The 39-year-old Mosley himself is undergoing tough training in Big Bear California and has vowed not to become the next victim of the Filipino ring icon.

“There’s nothing new on Pacquio’s speed,” Mosley told fighthype.com. “I’ve been in the ring with people who throw a lot punches. So it’s not like something I haven’t seen before. He’ll [Pacquiao] be in trouble when I hit him.”

Mosley stressed that he isn’t like Margarito and the rest of the other victims of Pacquiao, “I’m pretty sure I’m going to be able to land some good shots on him and get him in trouble,” he added.

According to the boxer-congressman, he is seriously determined to leave his “pound-for-pound” title untarnished by defending his WBO welterweight belt against Mosley, who he notes has never been knocked out in his whole boxing career.

“Dahil marami ang nakasubaybay sa mga kaganapan at halos sold out na ang MGM Grand Garden Arena sa Las Vegas, Nevada, hindi biro ang labang ito kaya naman hindi rin ako nagpapabaya sa training,” he said, adding that “Manny Pacquiao, the boxer, will come in ready and prepared for his upcoming fight.”
