‘Tum’ is more than a love story

Real and reel couple Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez are celebrating these days.

First, they are happy over their partnership as a new couple.

In fact, they want to celebrate further by setting their church wedding this June.

“I want to make Mariel my June bride,” said Robin of the planned church wedding in a still undisclosed church.

The couple were married in ceremonies at the world famous Taj Majal in India, and shot a movie while in that country where they were the stars.

Their movie, “Tum: My Pledge of Love,” opened in theaters in the country on March 16.

Written and directed by Robin himself and inspired by the love he shares with his wife Mariel, “Tum” is a Hindu term that means “you.” Shot entirely in India during the couple’s honeymoon, the project, done at the most trying times of their relationship, is also a testament of their love.

Robin said he is very proud with what they have accomplished during the filming of “Tum.” Aside from the love story it narrates, the film also shows the very rich culture of India. “Maipagmamalaki namin na lahat po ‘yan India, lahat po ng extra namin nasa India,” he said.

The ever-youthful leading man, once considered the Bad Boy of Philippine movies, does not even forget to credit how wonderful and cooperative the other cast were. “Ang mga kasama po namin d’yan mga India actors at ang mga kalaban po natin d’yan mga well-trained Indian stuntmen!,” he said.

“Tum: My Pledge of Love” is a movie that combines a love story about two people hindered by cultural beliefs and threatened by people around them. In the end they come to the crossroads of their emotions whether or not they are meant for each other.

“Tum: My Pledge of Love” also stars Eddie Garcia, Ejay Falcon, Kat Alano, Rich Herrera, Datu Khomeini Bansuan, Nash R. Raza and Robin’s daughter Queenie.

“Tum” gets to showcase the actress in Queenie. Her characterization is reflected by how competent she is with the Hindu accent.

The movie’s cinematography will captivate every audience with the stunning sceneries and landscapes to the distinct architecture plus rich colors of the country’s traditional costumes and garbs like djelabas that is so unique.
