ACGTDT Launched in Chicago!

Chicago, IL – The Philippine Consulate General, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center, and the Philippine Department of Tourism officially launched the 6th Ambassadors, Consuls General, and Tourism Directors Tour (ACGTDT) recently at the Philippine Consulate General Chicago’s Social Hall.  Consul General Leo Herrera-Lim, Trade Representative Glenn Penaranda, and Tourism Director Vernie Velarde-Morales were on hand for this last March 2nd.

 Consul General Herrera-Lim welcomed the launch attendees to the event, sharing his thoughts and excitement in leading an ACGTDT delegation for the first time this year.  He encouraged the audience to take part in this Tour, noting for most the opportunity to meet newly-electedPresident Benigno Aquino III, and be reacquainted with our home country. 

 Mr. Glenn Penaranda provided updates on the current and future business and trade climate in the Philippines.  He also announced the Business Component of this year’s ACGTDT, in which Tour attendees have the option of joining a business seminar during the trip.
 Tourism Director Morales shared with the audience more positive news, this time regarding inbound visitor arrivals to the country.  She then provided the ACGTDT information to the audience, with a powerpoint presentation.  Director Morales fielded questions from the attendees as well as shared her past Tour experiences, including what people could expect from going on this special trip. 

 Tour components include: trip to Malacanang Palace and meet the President, wreath laying at Rizal Park, and a hosted Welcome Dinner with Filipino cultural presentation, city tour of Old Manila and Manila Ocean Park, and a choice of an out-of-town day tour with lunch.  In addition to the basic tour, optional out-of-town tours will also be made available.

 The price for this Tour from the Midwest (via Chicago) – including airfare and hotel for the basic tour – has been announced at US$2,099.00 on a first come, first served basis.
