Consul General Leo M. Herrera-Lim led the commemoration of the 114th Martyrdom Anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal with a wreath-laying ceremony on 30 December 2010 at the Dr. Jose P. Rizal Monument on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago.

Despite four inches of snow and the blistering cold, still present during the brief ceremony were Consulate officers and staff, Sir Bonifacio Cenir, Knights of Rizal (KOR) Central USA Area Commander, Dr. Evelyn Natividad of the Ladies for Rizal, and Ms. Angeles R. Carandang, Chairperson of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) Illinois Chapter. Also present to remember our national hero’s martyrdom were KOR members and leaders of the Filipino American community.

In the evening, Consul General Herrera-Lim was the keynote speaker in a dinner-program of the Knights of Rizal at the Dr. Jose P. Rizal Heritage Center.
