June 25, 2010 Another wish of “Pilipinas Got Talent” grand prize winner Jovit Baldivino has come true.
The former siomai vendor of Batangas met his idol Journey lead singer Arnel Pineda and even had a duet with him on the set of ABS-CBN popular show “The Buzz.” Jovit, who admitted that he has long been a fan of Pineda, said he could hardly believe his eyes upon seeing lead singer of the American band. Jovit and Pineda sang in the show “Too Much Love Will Kill You,” a Brian May-original that was Baldivino’s winning piece.
Pineda even gave an advice to Jovit. “Yung opportunity na dumating sa yo, sana mahalin mo,” Pineda told the young singer. “Buti ka pa at age 16 [ay] nakuha mo ang fame mo. Ako, it took me 25 years…” he told Jovit, adding that he performed in Olongapo City and other venues outside Manila, but got his big break with the popular American band, the Journey.
Pineda also advised Jovit to take good care of his earnings, referring to the P2 million he won in the “Pilipinas Got Talent” show. Pineda admitted that he is not at all bothered that Jovit is being touted as the “next Arnel Pineda,” pointing out that he actually supports him all the way.
