Joey Marquez writing songs, to record next?

Comedian, basketball player and former mayor Joey Marquez is now into writing songs and playing the guitar.

The actor made the revelation in an interview with TV 5’s “Paparazzi” program and with Manila Bulletin’s Jojo Panaligan.

Joey disclosed that the songs that he has composed were dedicated to his ex-girlfriends.

They include “Sana Maulit Muli” which was composed for TV host Dolly Anne Carvajal, “I Honestly Love You” for former wife, now Paranaque City Councilor Alma Moreno, and “My One And Only Love” for Melissa de Leon.

Joey chose for his most controversial ex-girlfriend, Kris Aquino, the song “Friend of Mine,” according to the report.

Other women linked to Joey in the past that were not brought up were Jackie Forester, Alicia Mayer, Jean Garcia and Brenda del Rio.

Joey disclosed to Jojo Panaligan in an interview that he is quite happy now devoting his time to his kids. He gave vague answers to questions about his love life, merely saying, “I’m alone but never lonely.”

He said he also composed a song entitled “Bobo Sa Pag-ibig” and this one is his favorite.

“Feeling ko kasi, katawan ko lang ang habol nila [women] sa akin,” he said in jest.

Joey said in the interview with Jojo Panaligan that he does not want to have a showbiz girlfriend again because it means loss of privacy for the relationship.

He said guys should make a girl feel special and comfortable in their company, afford them with new experiences, be a good provider to them, and whet their curiosity.

Joey said if he could just sing his songs, he would do it, but he named Regine Velasquez, Lani Misalucha, Ogie Alcasid and Chito Miranda as among his choices to sing his songs.

Joey said he has been brushing up on his guitar-playing skills.

“Lahat ng instruments alam ko tugtugin. Ang talent ko d’yan, para sa ‘kin lang. Hindi ko talaga actually nilalabas yun. Kasi gusto ko yung may pang-sarili ako pag-uwi ko, [imbes na] makinig ako sa ibang kanta, yung kanta ko na lang ang pinapakinggan ko,” he said.

Joey singing his songs himself?

He has a ready answer for that: “Kailangang-kailangan ko pa ng isang baldeng salabat para gumanda boses ko. Okay na yung magawa ko lang yung lyrics, makanta ng ibang tao, ma-appreciate, matandaan. Kasi dun ko narealize [na] ang kanta pala, habambuhay natatandaan.”
