Former presidential girlfriend Shalani Soledad has started appearing as a co-host of Willie Revillame in his comeback show on TV5, “Willing Willie.”
Her rumored boyfriend, the bachelor President Benigno S. Aquino III, has kind words about her joining show business, wished her well and said “Goodluck!”

“I understand she looks at it as a perspective to broaden her ability to serve her constituents. So I hope the upside will be fully attained, she finds fulfillment and happiness in it. As far as the downside of being in show biz is concerned, hopefully (it) will be very mitigated or non-existent,” Mr. Aquino said.
It was gathered that Shalani had informed the President about her joining Revillame, who supported Mr. Aquino’s rival in the last elections, Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Sen. Manuel Villar Jr.
It has been rumored that the President and Shalani broke up last September, but neither would directly confirm their breakup.
The President has been quoted as saying that it was quite clear to her and hims as to where they stood now and that “we now have separate lives.”
Showbiz authorities said many people agreed that the Valenzuela City councilor, who was a former UNTV reporter, has a charming screen presence in the show but reviews about her performance as a host is mixed.
Nonetheless, Senate President Pro-Tempore Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada, an actor himself, said he hopes to have Shalani as his leading lady in future movies.
Estrada said Shalani deserves to become part of the showbiz industry because she has a pretty face and a good demeanor.
“Well, she just started so we should give her more time to hone her skills on cam,” said top columnist Mario Bautista said for one.
Shalani, who is the chairperson of the Committee on Appropriations of the Valenzuela City Council, was in the news recently because she finally met her biological dad, Addi Aguirre of Banco Filipino.
Shalani, who once worked with the Senate, disclosed that she’s a love child raised by her mom, a former flight attendant, and an uncle.
She was also in the news lately because of a rumor she has a love child herself from a past boyfriend surnamed Cabochan and this is allegedly the reason why President Benigno S. Aquino III’s sisters are against her. It was gathered that the presidential sisters prefer stylist Liz Uy, ex-girlfriend of John Lloyd Cruz.
Shalani herself has been silent about the rumor about her love child, including her alleged breakup with President Aquino.
Shalani’s mother, however, came forward to deny her having a child in the television show “Paparazzi.”
Columnist Mario Bautista also reported that as a politician, the beautiful Shalani has managed to remain in the sidelight.
“But with her entry into showbiz, surely all the rumors about her, including her being linked to Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian (ex-boyfriend of actress Pauleen Luna), will now be delved into more thoroughly by nosy entertainment reporters,” he wrote in his column.
