BAGUIO CITY — World boxing titlist Manny Paquiao and his team were seen early Monday at Burnham Park in a jogging activity as part of the rigid training to take place in the summer capital.
Although the boxing champion and now a congressman cannot be interviewed, he smiled and waved to gathered newsman and fans at the premier park.
Buboy Fernandez, part of the training team, said the Filipino champion is scheduled for sparring sessions at the Coyeesan gym along Naguilian Road.
He also said that part of the activities here will be the conditioning of Pacquiao for his next world title fight on November 13 in the U.S against Mexican fighter Antonio Margarito for a possible record eighth championship belt.
Records show that in the same period last year, even at the height of the calamitous typhoon “Pepeng”, Pacquiao also trained here where he and trainers found to be ideal due to the altitude of more than 3,000 feet above sea level, excellent food, and clean mountain air.
Ealier, City Mayor Mauricio Domogan said that “Baguio is honored to have Congressman Pacquiao train in our city. The people of Baguio welcome the champion and his team.”
