Mariel, Robin flying to US for honeymoon

After denying initially that they were married in Baguio City by a tribal priest, action star Robin Padilla and actress Mariel Rodriguez finally admitted that they have been married and the ceremonies were held in the Taj Majal in India.

Now, the newly married couple is planning to go the United States to talk to the actress’ parents regarding their second wedding.

The two made the revelation during the “Dutdutan X” tattoo convention in Pasay City last Sept. 26.

Apart from meeting with Mariel’s parents, the two will also continue their honeymoon in the US, according to a report of Rowena Joy Sanchez.

The report, however, did not indicate when the couple would be flying to the US and which part of the US they will be visiting.

Robin and Mariel had admitted that they first exchanged vows in an intimate Muslim ceremony at the Taj Mahal in Agra, India last Aug. 19. They added that they will have a Catholic wedding this coming Christmas day, Dec. 25.

“Ang katunayan niyan eh, nung nagpaplano kami, kasama talaga ‘yon. Hindi puwedeng mawala ‘yon kasi si Mariel ay Katoliko. Binigyan lang niya ko ng respeto dahil Muslim ako,” said Robin of the wedding.
“As much as pinapahalagahan ko ang religion ni Robin, pinahahalagahan rin niya ‘yung religion ko,” added Mariel.

The TV host-actress also denied speculations that she is pregnant, saying this could happen “mga eight to 10 years pa.”

“Gusto ko kami muna, saka marami ng anak si Robin,” said Mariel.

The controversial pair graced a tattoo convention in their first major public appearance together since they admitted their marriage.

Mariel was quoted in the report as saying she is willing to get a tattoo for her “Babe.”

“Ang ilalagay ko na lang ‘I heart Robin Padilla’,” said Mariel.

Robin, however, is not sold on the idea of his wife getting inked.

“Hangga’t mapipigil ko siya, pipigilan ko siya, ang pagmamahal ko kay Mariel naka-tattoo na sa puso ko,” he said.

Known to have gotten several tattoos in the past (including of his ex-girlfriends), Robin said that should he dedicate a tattoo for Mariel, he would choose a guardian angel.

Mariel, meanwhile, clarified rumors that she is demanding Robin to have his tattoo for ex-girlfriend Sharon Cuneta, removed.

“Ang lahat ‘yan naging part ng life niya so there should be no tattoo na may regret. Those naman were [of] the past, what is important is the present,” she said.
