Villar is RP’s richest senator

June 18, 2010  PASAY CITY – Defeated presidential candidate Senator Manny Villar remains the richest senator while detained Senator Antonio

Trillanes IV is the poorest member of the Philippine Senate.

Based on the 2009 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), Villar has a net asset worth P947.88 million followed by another losing presidential candidate Ma. Ana Consuelo ‘Jamby’ Madrigal with net worth P145.61 million in second spot and reelected Senator Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr. with P123.73 million in third place.

Incumbent Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile is fourth place with net worth P118.8 million followed by Sen. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada with P84.03 million and Sen. Pia Cayetano with P75.85 million net asset in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

President-elect Benigno Simeon ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III is in the 18th place among the 23 senators with net worth of P15.44
million, P1.4 million higher than his 2008 declaration. Trillanes, meanwhile, remains the poorest senator with net worth of P3.47 million. an increase of more than half a million as compared to his 2008 SALN.
