Mayor reminds constituents to observe SIKAT standards

July 30, 2010

MANILA – Caloocan Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri on Thursday reminded parents of elementary and high school students to observe what was learned during the “Simulan ang Karunungan sa Tahanan” (SIKAT) project, which was launched last year. SIKAT refers to the project wherein parents are encouraged to help their children with assignments and other school works. Echiverri underscored the importance of equipping the youth with the necessary tools for learning, especially when these came from their own parents.

This will benefit teachers in school and will result in making good citizens out of their students. According to the mayor, SIKAT would help Caloocan City achieve high score in the coming National Achievement Test (NAT) not only in Metro Manila, but in the entire Philippines. The mayor said that teachers, through the project, would no longer be alone in educating students since they would now have the parents as partners in instilling virtues and dreams into the children as they grow older.
