MANILA – Mayor Alfredo S. Lim announced on Thursday that the processing period for the issuance of building permits in Manila has been reduced to a mere three days. According to city administrator Jay Marzan, Mayor Lim has directed city building official Engineer Melvin Balagot and city planning
chief Rodolfo Catu and other concerned units to also shorten the period within which applicants may be able to get their compliance certificates
from their respective offices which are required for them to be able to get their permits.
Under building regulations, the issuance of permits may be done within a 15-day period depending on how fast the applicant is able to comply with all the required documents. Balagot clarified, however, that the three-day period applies only to those who have come up with all the necessary requirements and who have paid the required regulatory fees.
The city building office, in issuing building permits, covers the structural, plumbing, sidewalk and architectural aspects of the application.
