  QUESTIONS OF FAITH

Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?

tycoGood things and bad things happen to everyone. There is no exception. And the truth is, no one is good except God alone. “As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are all together become unprofitable, there is none that doeth good, no not one. (Romans 3:10-12)

Why are we suffering in this world? We are suffering because suffering is the fruit of sin. And we live in a world infected with sin.

Let’s get to the roots of our endless sufferings. If there is no Satan, there is no sin, and if there is no sin, there is no suffering. Who is Satan? He was the fallen angel, Lucifer. He was the most beautiful angel and he was called the son of the morning. And because of PRIDE, he exalted himself to be like God. “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How are you cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of GOD; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds. I will be like the Most High”. Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the lowest depths of the pit. (Isaiah 14:12-15)

God cast him down to the ground and he became Satan together with the one third fallen angels with him and they are the demons.

The purpose of Satan is to destroy the plan of God’s creation of mankind. He deceived Adam and Eve and they fell into sin. Satan got the key from Adam and Eve because of sin. And the gates of sin, death, and hell were opened. Satan is the prince of the air and the ruler of darkness in this wicked world. “The thief (Satan) cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am (Jesus) come that they might have life and that they have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

The suffering of the believers is testing and trials from God.

In the midst of trials, storms, and sufferings of life, we are weakened, confused, afraid, not knowing what to do. There’s no way out, and we are completely lost. God wants us to know that we are not alone. He is within us, in us, and with us. So let’s not complain and turn against God or run away and give up but instead let us listen to His deep and clear voice. He is calling us to run to Him and rest in His care “Come unto me, all you who are weary and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

God is teaching us to humble ourselves. We cannot do anything apart from Him. He wants us to depend on Him and surrender to Him completely. Then we will find ourselves rejoicing in the midst of our sufferings and no matter what happens we cling to Him and there is peace and joy deep within. God did not create sin in this world. He allows it and did not destroy it. But the Lord Jesus Christ defeated sin on the cross by taking upon Himself the sins of all mankind.

The suffering of the unbelievers is a curse from Satan. You need the Lord Jesus Christ to take away all your sins so you will be free from the bondage of sin and you will have eternal life.

The suffering of this present time is only temporary. So let’s fix our eyes on Jesus. We press on and don’t faint because Jesus said, “In this world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
