GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Filipino eight world division champion turned politician Manny Pacquiao is dedicating his comeback fight against Brandon Rios to the victims of devastating typhoon ‘Yolanda.’
The fighting congressman from Saranggani who is preoccupied in his training in his hometown, said he will do his best to regain his momentum and dedicate his fight to the victims whom he believes are his supporters in the boxing world.
President Aquino said that the death toll from Typhoon Yolanda rampage is closer to 2,000 or 2,500 while hundreds of thousands had been displaced or injured.
Pacquiao is scheduled to face Rios on November 24, 2013 in Macau. He vowed that his inspirations for this fight are Filipino fans who are praying for him to win.
“I really want to visit the area and personally do what I can to help our countrymen who have suffered so much in this terrible tragedy, but I’m in deep training for a crucial fight so I regret I cannot go,” Pacquiao said in his press statement as he vowed to personally visit the victims after his fight.
“I will send help to those who need it the most and I enjoin all of you to pray for our country and people in these trying times,” he said.
