President Noynoy’s Appeal

Before he flew to the United States on September 20, President Benigno S. Aquino III sent a message to the Filipino community in the San Francisco Bay Area through a local newspaper.
In his message, the President said that the people’s victory in the last May 2010 elections is a clear indication that the whole nation is rallying behind our agenda to pursue the straight and righteous path. “Guided by the principles of competence, integrity, and compassion, we have already begun implementing policies that will allow us to transform our nation,” he stressed. Aquino faces excommunication

MANILA (PinoyNews) – The Roman Catholic Church has threatened to excommunicate President Benigno Aquino III over his announcement in California that he was open to the use of contraceptives.
The leader, however, merely shrugged off the threat, saying he was open to a dialogue with the Church leaders on the use of contraceptives which, for the Church, is a form of birth control. Continue reading
Aquino back from US, bares $2.4 B investments

MANILA — President Benigno S. Aquino III arrived early Tuesday morning from his successful week-long trip to the United States which, he said, had garnered for the country US$ 2.4-billion in new investments.
In his arrival speech at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Centennial Terminal II, President Aquino said officials of top firms from the US, Malaysia and Singapore had expressed intentions to put in more investments here to expand their economic relations with the Philippines. Continue reading

MANILA – Malacanang clarified Friday that there is no politics behind the budget cut in the Office of the Vice President.
In a media briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said the decision of the executive review board led by Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad to cut the maintenance, operating and other expenses (MOOE) of the cabinet agencies was in line with President Benigno S. Maguindanao now safe to journalists – governor

COTABATO CITY – Maguindanao Gov. Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu said that the province is now a safe place for journalist to cover.
Mangudadatu made this statement when asked by media practitioners if it is safe for them to fly to the province and cover the first anniversary of the infamous massacre which claimed the lives of more than 57 individuals, 30 of them reporters.
