Chicago, IL — Bayanihan Foundation Worldwide, a Chicago-based registered, nonprofit organization whose mission is to help Filipinos in the Philippines improve their lives, is hosting its first special event, themed “Pagbabalik” (Coming Home) on Sunday, October 24, at 7pm at Trader Vic’s Restaurant (1030 N. State St. Chicago, IL). Grupong Pendong – Pendong Aban, Jr. of ASIN, Philippines’ popular folk rock group will perform live during the event. The band will make their Midwest premiere and perform Asin classics including “Pagbabalik,” “Himig ng Pag-ibig,” “Masdan ng Kapaligiran” and their new hits such as “Bagyo-bagyo,” “Dito sa Lupa” and “Panahon.” A four-course dinner buffet with lechon (roast pig) will be served in an elegant Pacific Islands dining ambience.
“This event is the premier launch of the foundation and it celebrates ‘Pagbabalik’ or Coming Home,” Myrla Baldonado, Organizing Director of Bayanihan Foundation Worldwide (Bayanihan) commented. “We want to honor the potential of millions of Filipinos living outside of the Philippines to give back and make a difference at home.”
Suggested donations are $90 per individual or $175 per couple in advance and $100 per individual at the door. Donations are tax- deductible.
Donations will benefit the Bayanihan Foundation’s poverty-alleviating projects in the Philippines including youth leadership development of second-generation Filipino-Americans; advocacy efforts to clean up toxic wastes of former US bases in the Philippines; and the promotion of return migration to the Philippines.

- Host conferences that will explore ways to encourage return migration and to invest in grassroots development projects in the Philippines
