Presidential sister and Queen of All Media Kris Aquino has confirmed again her plans to enter politics in 2016.
Kris said she plans to run for local position first before entering national politics.
It is widely known in her home province of Tarlac that Kris may run for governor, a post once held by his late father, Sen. Benigno S. Aquino Jr.
Earlier, retired Archbishop Oscar Cruz exposed alleged plans by known allies and supports of President Benigno S. Aquino III to field Kris for Vice President in 2016.
Kris has not confirmed nor denied the bishop’s revelation.
In an interview this week, the ABS-CBN television host and actress said it would best to start making a difference “in a smaller environment.”
She said that from there, she can aim for a national position.
There is speculation that Kris may try to run in Makati City where she resides which is controlled by Aquino ally, Vice President Jejomar Binay.
But Kris will be moving to a new house in Alabang, Muntinlupa City and may try her luck there with the help of another Aquino family ally, former Senator and now congressman Rodolfo Biazon.
“Kasi gusto ko talaga may body of accomplishments even if it’s just three years, six years. Kasi sa pag-iikot ko, sa nakikita ko, you can really do a lot in a smaller environment. And that can be ‘yung kind ng program ko — naipakita ko na kaya ko rito, so baka pwede kong gawin sa lahat,” she told reporters as reported by ABS-CBN.
The “Kris TV” host then praised public officials who started at the bottom of the hierarchy, including her brother and her late parents.
“Bilib ako sa mga taong nagsimula bilang SK, ‘yung lahat ay napagdadaanan. Ako, naniniwala ako doon sa ganoon. My dad (the late senator Benigno Aquino Jr.) started as a small town mayor, PNoy (President Benigno Aquino III) started as congressman, ‘yung sa mom ko (the late President Corazon Aquino), that’s an event that’s historical, that only happens once in a millennium. So, titignan ko kung ano ang ganap,” she said.
As early as now, Aquino extended her appreciation to all the local officials like Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who have offered to mentor her.
“Thankful ako na kung gusto kong mag-OJT sa kanila, maraming pwedeng pag-OJT-han. Sinabi [nila] sa akin, tignan ko at kung kaya ko,” she said.
In 2010, Aquino announced her plan to run for governor of Tarlac, her home province.
“I feel naman na bilang isang Aquino, whatever political career I hope to have in the future, it has to start in Tarlac,” she said.
The presidential sister said she and her two sons, Joshua, her son with actor Philip Salvador, and Bimby, will move into their house in Alabang on July 16.
“Siyempre pina-feng shui ko, July 16 at six in the morning. Tapos may dayap-dayap pa, may incense, may fruits, wala namang masama, gawin na lang. May compass pa kung saan mo ilalagay ang dayap, but the color daw, basta, go. Basta doon ako nae-excite at may home na kami, I mean totoong home,” she said..
Asked if her brother, President Benigno Aquino III, will be there for the house blessing, Aquino said: “Ayaw ko mag-blessing na public. I will just ask a priest to come on the 16th. Hindi ba bago maggawa-gawa ng ritual eh pa-bless ko muna? Mayroon naman akong super close na priest na kahit puyatin ko siya ay gagawin niya, kaya OK na ‘yon.”
The TV host-actress said, however, that she is planning to welcome cameras into her kitchen and dining area for a cooking portion, most likely on her morning show on ABS-CBN, “Kris TV.”
“Regalo ko na rin sa amin na ‘yung house namin ay para sa amin lang. Ang ipapakita ko lang sa inyo ay ‘yung dining at kitchen kasi doon ko balak na mag-cooking portion, kasi ‘yung kitchen at least na specify sa kung sa ano ang gusto ko. Actually, pagtingin sa house, doon sa kitchen area ay mayroon na kaming ready na ilaw. Excited na ako,” she said.
“I’m so excited kasi bubusisiin ko talaga ‘yung kitchen. Actually it’s ready for us to move in it’s just lalamanan na lang so excited ako. At bago ako umuoo ang rule ni Boy (Abunda) bawal umutang so inaral namin ang lahat ng receivables at collectibles ko so kaya. So sabi ni Boy ‘go kaya,’” she added.
