Pnoy swears in 4 senators, 80 congressmen


MALACANANG, Manila (PilipinasNews) – President Benigno S. Aquino III swore in four senators and 82 administration lawmakers, many of them neophytes, who won during the May 13 midterm election in ceremonies in Malalcanang.

The four senators-elect who took their oath include Alan Peter Cayetano, Antonio Trillanes IV, Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV and Cynthia Villar. Their three-year term of office will start at high noon on June 30, 2013.
The Liberal Party representatives who took their oath of offices before the President were led by two congressmen of Manila, six congressmen of Quezon City, lone congressmen of Pasay City, Taguig-Pateros, Pasig City, Paranaaue City and others from Metro Manila.
Also sworn in were newcomers Atty. Maria Leonor Leni Robredo of Camarines Sur, actor Alfred Paolo Vargas III of Quezon City, reelectionist Rep. Lucy Marie Torres-Gomez of Ormoc City and Leyte, basketball coach Joseller Guiao of Pampanga and several prominent lawmakers formerly identified with the previous administration of former President now Pampanga Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo like Reps. Maria Georgina Gina de Venecia (Pangasinan), Sergio Apostol (Leyte) and Enrico Echeverri (Caloocan City),
The Manila lawmakers who took their oath were reelectionists Rep. Benjamin Asilo of the first district and Rep. Carlos Lopez, of the second district.
Aside from Congressman Alfred Vargas, sworn in as Quezon City representatives were Jorge Banal of the third district, Jose Christopher Belmonte of the sixth district, Francisco Calalay Jr. of the first district, Winston Castelo of the second district.
Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. of the fourth district of Quezon City was to be sworn later.
Lawmakers who acted as prosecutors of impeached Chief Justice Renato C. Corona and were reelected were also sworn in by the President. They are Reps. Neil Tupas Jr. of Iloilo, Reynaldo Umali of Oriental Mindoro, Jorge John Banal of Quezon City, Romero Federico Quimbo of Marikina City,
Also sworn in was Rep. Regina Reyes of the lone district of Marinduque whose disqualification was sustained by the Supreme Court for being an American citizen. Reyes defeated incumbent Allan Velasco, son of Supreme Court Associate Justice
Prisbetiero Velasco.
