Philippine Week Committee

Outreach Programs in the Philippines
January 2013 – February 2013

In some remote areas in the third world, including the Philippines, clean and potable water is either scarce or not available. On an average, two out of three people in the rural areas of the Philippines lack access to potable water. This proportion is remarkably higher than the Asian average of one in three people.

Thru the Philippine Week Committee and the support of local community organizations, we are able to erect, dedicate artesian wells and serve the underprivileged sectors of our society for more than a decade now. Last January of this year six wells were erected for these poor communities, in honor of our benefactors and the following PWC supporters;

* 2012 Chairperson Thelma Fuentes & Beauty Pageant Chairperson
Alice L. Ramos
* Reigning Ms. Philippine Independence of PWC – Miss Alyssa Tolentino
* And for her Royal Court; Miss Luzon- Ilona Gail Tecson,
Miss Visayas – Jessica Cheri Magday, Miss Mindanao – Joeanna Dyan Jabines, Miss Manila – Lianna Rosa Lim

In addition to these Artesian wells, we gave to these poor families’ basic needs for daily existence, such as;
* Box lunches – rice, noodles, chicken & soda
* Gift Pack – 2 kilos of rice, six packs of noodles & six cans of sardines
* Brand new slippers & T-shirts
* Common household medicines & vitamins
* Some spiritual nourishment thru church volunteers

So far, from the time this project was started, we were able to serve numerous communities in places like; Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, La Union, Cagayan Valley Bicol Region, Bacolod, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro & Davao & approximately constructed & dedicated around 76 water wells & made a difference on the lives of those who are in need.

Philippine Week Committee, after more than a decade of outreach activities in the Philippines continues to make a difference in people’s lives.
