Why try to take away my happiness? Heart Evangelista tells her parents

Behind a successful man is a woman.
But like Helen of Troy, the woman may also be the cause of a man’s downfall.
What will it be for reelectionist Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero as he slid from number 2 to number 4 in the senatorial race based on a survey?
The poser has been triggered by the crisis involving Chiz, his girlfriend, actress Heart Evangelista and her parents.
Heart’s mother Cecilia and father Rey Ongpauco has come out in the open that they were against the senator, calling him many names.
Heart’s mother even appealed to her to come home because her father was sick and maybe affected by the hullaballoo on the Chiz-Heart romance.
Heart, however, stood by her man.
The comely actress, in an emotional live TV interview on GMA, appealed to her parents to stop issuing hurtful statements about her relationship with the senator. Another network, TV 5’s Interaksyon, reported on the interview.
“Why? Why are you doing this?” she asked her parents who attacked the senator’s character and accused him of maltreating their daughter, according to the report.
“Mahal na mahal naman kita, hindi naman kita iiwanan… Anak mo ako, pamilya tayo, tama na! Tama na ho. Walang mananalo dito. Lahat tayo nasasaktan, lahat tayo talo dahil nawala tayo sa isa’t isa,” Heart the talk show “Hot TV” in GMA network, her mother studio.
Heart, who is now of age at 28, said she only saw one reason why her parents spoke out: “Because gusto nila kaming paghiwalayin. Lahat naman siguro ng ginagawa nila ngayon dahil para maghiwalay na kami (They want to separate us. All the things they are doing they do it so we will now separate).”
Heart also told her parents to let her make decisions for herself.
“Sana, hayaan na lang nila akong maging masaya, ‘yung walang kokontra at walang pipigil kung anong nagpapatawa sa akin,” she said.
Heart said she could not remember any particular incident that triggered her parents’ sudden disapproval of her relationship with the 43-year-old senator.
“Wala. Nung umpisa walang problema, ‘yung una silang nagkita… In fact, walang problema ‘yung daddy ko, naging maayos kami. Pumunta pa nga kami sa beach house niya,” Heart recounted.
“Naging maayos talaga kami. Ito lang talagang nakaraang araw biglang naiba,” she said.
Heart also refuted her parents’ allegation that Chiz is an alcoholic. “That is a lie!” she declared.
She also denied his supposed arrogance towards them. “Hindi talaga totoo. Senator siya. Kung ibang tao nga ginagalang niya. ‘Yung mas mababang tao nga nandiyan siya para sa kanila. Ano pa kaya ‘yung magulang ng taong mahal niya?”
Heart admitted that it was a painful decision for her to move out of the condominium building where she lived one floor above her parents’ unit. But she maintained that she was happy with Chiz.
“Ang saya-saya namin, e… ang saya-saya ko ngayon. Hindi ko maintindihan,” she said, breaking into tears once again.
She reiterated her message to her parents: “Kung gusto n’yong magkahiwalay kami, hayaan n’yo na lang akong makapagdesisyon nun, please!”
Heart Evangelista exhibited her inner strength amidst the conflict through her latest tweets, according to Bulletin’s Rowena Sanchez.
The actress recently re-tweeted quotations pertaining to overcoming struggles, which read:
“@Scripture_Truth 18h: He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. – Proverbs 2:7.”
“@ihatequotes: Sometimes things get worse before they get better, but hold God’s hand and he will help you keep it together.”
Heart also took to Twitter to protest her parents’ objections about her relationship with Senator Escudero.
“Today, tomorrow and the next will bring me heartaches… why try to take away my happiness,” tweeted Heart.
Heart’s ex-boyfriend for more than a year Brazilian-Japanese Daniel Matsunaga, meanwhile, said her parents are very protective.
“They’re very protective, I understand. They love Heart, and that’s family, and that’s their opinion. So ako I go with it,” he said on News5.
Daniel added, “I’m sure he (Chiz) loves her. I feel bad that this is happening once more in Heart’s life because she doesn’t deserve this kind of things. And she’s in love and it’s her decision.”
Sen. Escudero broke his silence on the issue, pointing out that he is hurt by the accusations that her parents have made.
“Pilit ko iniintindi ang parents ni Heart, parent din ako pero hindi ako naninira sa ngalan ng anak ko. Kahit gaano karami pera nila, hindi lisensya para yurakan ang pagkatao ko… nadadamay ang mga anak ko pati nanay ko, lumalabas na parang hindi ako pinalaki nang maayos,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

Escudero said he hopes that the public would spare them privacy in fixing their issues, which he described as “matindi.”

“Bago ito, masaya at maayos kami ni Heart, pero sa nangyaring ito, malaki ang epekto sa kanya. Mahal ko si Heart pero matindi itong pinagdadaanan namin, masakit,” he lamented.

He said he will take into consideration the advice of Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, who played cupid to Chiz and Heart, that he settle matters with Heart’s parents.

Santiago said ti was right for the actress’ parents to let their daughter learn her own lessons because she is of right age.

“I think that they should just think all of this over and maybe it’s time for the family to let go of Heart because she’s 28. I think the best thing to do is let go, she has to learn her lessons her way,” Sen. Santiago said in an interview with GMA News.
The lady senator told Senator Escudero: “Amuin na lang niya ‘yung mga magulang para walang problema…Why can’t he do that? That is our culture, may kasabihan tayo na ligawan mo ang mga magulang muna.”
