In these troubled times of school violence, bullying, drugs, social media, and peer pressure, “How does the youth find their own place?” ??A group of young people dared to take on the challenge and made a stand for change last February 22nd, in the event titled “Burning in Love.”
Sponsored by “In the Presence of Jesus Ministries” (IPJM), a non-denominational church currently based in Addison, the gathering drew quite a number of people and was definitely a crowd pleaser.
Burning in Love started in February of 2011, in which it aims to have the young people from different parts of the Chicago – Illinois area, gather together to meet up during the valentine’s season. It was meant to promote and showoff the different talents of the youth and more importantly, to share the Word of God in their life. The event hopes for a well-balanced youth, having them to encourage one another and improve their spiritual life, as an important aspect as they move forward in life. The event, raised funds for different causes such as victims of typhoon ‘Sendong’ in the Philippines and [children’s relief fund]. Burning in Love featured many surprises that night including live performances of singing and dancing, romantic candygram, photobooth, and open dance floor presented by Artie “DJ Wildcat” Topacio of REMIX entertainment to cap the night.
Burning in Love is the brainchild of Ninneth Villanueva, the altruistic children’s ministry leader in both IPJM Cavite and Chicago branches. Her ministry aims to reach out to young people’s lives by enriching them spiritually through education and sharing the word of God. ??The sponsor, In the Presence of Jesus Ministries, continues its dedication in reaching out to other young people through youth bible meetings, group activities, dancing and musical performances. “Everyone is welcome.” says IPJM Senior Pastor, Rev. Armand Cudia.
This year’s Burning in Love led by IPJM’s young adult ministry head, Allan Tibayan, who has this to say about this year’s Burning in Love:
“Concerning the Burning in Love Dance 2013, the IPJM Young Adult Ministry and its leaders were very grateful for the best turnout yet. We were able to sow the Word of God to many youth and young adults through Praise and Worship songs and by well thought of dramatization. We pray that every year the attendance gets larger and larger so that we can continue to share the Word with the growing generation.
In promoting the IPJM Young Adult Ministry, I believe growth must come from within. If our ministry will continue to ground them in the Word of Jesus, it can only lead to fruitful growth. They will be equipped and knowledgeable to share the Word with their family and friends. Word of mouth and living by blessed example are powerful.”
The young adult ministry leaders are comprised of Kaye Dimalanta, the charismatic praise and worship singer of IPJM Chicago and Morton Grove branches; Perry Fernandez, the talented dancer and athlete of the ministry; Nico Francisco, the Multimedia specialist; Ninneth Villanueva, the kind hearted children’s ministry leader; and JR Villanueva, the junior administrator.
