It was a very cold, snowy wet January 28, 2013 when Leticia asked the Freihauts and their intimate circle of friends to gather at Alta Villa Banquets in Addison, IL for a surprise 70th birthday celebration of Bart, her husband of 40 years. The lousy weather notwithstanding, everyone who showed up for the party was ready was happy they did. It was a joyful party and both the celebrant and the hostess were in great spirits and so were the invited guests.
Often described as a slender lefty, Bart Freihaut, who stands 6’5” played basketball in high school and went to college on basketball scholarship. He was a popular player who gained fame for “scoring 41 points in a game during the season, which stood as a single game record for 20 years.”
Bart and Leticia met at Oklahoma University when Leticia went to visit her aunt. Bart who was then finishing his Doctorate in Physical Chemistry fell for the Cebuana beauty. They got married in the Philippines on August 18, 1973.
Bart expressed his appreciation of his family, saying he’s grateful of them who gave him their love and respect. His children, Lorraine, Beverly and Chris made him very proud as a father. He said they made him feel he played a significant part in their education and professional development. He also expressed his gratitude and love for his wonderful wife of 40 years, Leticia Birao Freihaut. Bart plans on traveling with Leticia to different countries, especially in Germany.
