Bruno Mars proud to be a Filipino

Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Bruno Mars has once again talked about his Filipino heritage to indicate his being proud to be a Filipino. 
Mars made the statement on the television show Saturday Night Live and the Associated Press reported on it.
“I am a Filipino,” said Mars, whose real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, during the show.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Mars’ father Pete Hernandez is a Puerto Rican from New York while his mother Bernadette is a Filipina. Bernadette was a hula dancer when she met Pete who was a musician.
Mars had appeared as host and musical guest in the Saturday Night Live show.
According to AP, the show got the highest rating for this season when Mars was the show’s guest last October 20. 
ABS-CBN reported also on Mars appearance on SNL. In the AP report, Mars said he had so much fun doing the SNL show and would be glad to do it again.
In the show, Mars showcased his singing and acting talents in the comedy skits where he impersonated other musicians like Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Steven Tyler.
Last April, Mars, who was nominated for seven Grammys at the 53rd Grammy Awards and won Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Just the Way You Are,” held his jampacked solo concert in Manila and Cebu.
“I am Filipino!” he proclaimed near the end of the sold-out concert in Manila.
He said during his Manila and Cebu concerts it was his first time to come to the Philippines where his mother was born.
He vowed to be back, overwhelmed by the crowd’s cheers. “I want to see the same faces when I return, okay?” he enthused.
While in Manila, he also shot some commercial endorsement for Bench shirts.
During his Manila and Cebu concerts, he wowed the crowd with his songs and guitar playing.
The crowd specially loved his  songs “Just the Way You Are” and “Nothin on You,” both worldwide hits (No. 1 in the United States, United Kingdom and the Netherlands) which he co-wrote and produced with hip hop artist B.o.B.
Other songs which the crowd cheered were “Grenade,” “Marry You,” and “Liquor Store Blues.”
Mars will release his upcoming album, “Unorthodox Jukebox”, next month.
