Controversies like hair style hound Charice Pempengco

International singing star Charice Pempengco is caught in controversies again. But she is taking everything in stride, maybe saying it is part of being a celebrity.
First, she fired  her long-time manager, Grace Mendoza, and got a new manager.
Then, she got a flak for her decision over the ouster of singer Mark Mabasa in the X Factor talent show of ABS-CBN. She is one of the mentor-judges in the show.
Now, comes the third controversy.
Charice’s current hairstyle has caused a stir in social networking sites, even spawning some interesting memes. A number of netizens even went as far as saying that her hair garners more attention these days than Charice herself.
In the latest episode of “The X Factor Philippines,” where Charice sits as one of the judges, she was seen sporting short, curly blonde tresses, which some coined as a “noodles-inspired” hair.
Others, however, defended her hair style and opted to be more constructive with their comments. A netizen even compared Charice’s present situation to that of American singer-songwriter Cyndi Lauper’s who “had terrible hair styles… but still made it big.”
On the ouster of Mark Mabasa from X-Factor, fellow judge and singer Gary Valenciano defended Charice.
“Charice has gotten a lot flack for whatever reasons people choose to find, but it was obvious that she was torn. Many say “kung hirap kang mag judge eh dapat di na lang naging judge” That’s the nature of X Factor,” Gary said.
“It’s intense and it really moves the judge/mentor to his/her limit. Charice really struggled because like me, she was moved by both Mark and Takeoff, Gary added.
Gary further explained: “Charice could’ve made “ganti’ because I was the one who voted her contestant, Jerriane, out the week before. But she did none of that, and like Martin, she went with her gut feel and chose Mark to exit.”
Gary also pointed out that the scores of the X-Factor contestants were so close.
Charice, in an announcement via Twitter, did not explain why she fired her manager.
Charice only mentioned that she has assigned Courtney Blooding as her new “point of contact.”
“A bit of news, Grace Mendoza is no longer my manager. I thank her for the work and time she has spent with me. Courtney Blooding is the new point of contact for me. You can reach her at courtneyblooding@me.com,” she said.
Mendoza has not released a statement about her being relieved.
In 2010, it was alleged that Mendoza had a falling out with Pempengco after supposedly prematurely announcing her inclusion in the cast of the hit musical series “Glee.”
Prior to the promotion, Blooding was acting as the 20-year old YouTube sensation’s personal assistant and road manager. She was described at one point as very protective of Pempengco.
And it seems that she is feisty too.
A day after news of her new assignment was publicized by abscbnnews.com, Blooding was tweeting her complaint about “erroneous” journalism, zeroing in on a report that identified her as Canadian.
“Wow. I’m Canadian? I had no idea. I’m sure my mom would like to know. I adore how Philippine press press prints the most erroneous stuff,” she posted.
After receiving several tweets about the matter being part of a supposed continued “bashing” of her ward, Blooding posted, “they can hate all they want. It is their right. But to report false information is poor journalism.”
