Who Will Win The Miss Philippines, PWC 2012?



ALYSSA TOLENTINO is simply Lyss to friends and families. She was born on October 27, 1996 in San Fernando, La Union, Philippines to Mr Joe and Mrs Vilma Tolentino. Her hometown is Poblacion Norte, Caba, La Union. She has a brother, Mikael, 24, and sister, Ashley 21.
Lyss, a freshman, attends Evanston Township High School, at Evanston, Illinois, just successfully completed her first semester on the High Honor Roll of the school with a 4.01.43 GPA. She is a consistent honor student and was inducted into the Evanston High School Freshman Honor Society. When you ask her about her primary talent, she would say, “Music is the most important element in my life.” She plays the piano and violin and she sings, too. She was fortunate enough to take private piano and voice lessons and was once a student at the Music Institute of Chicago.
With her musical journey in her young life, she had participated at several piano competitions at Roosevelt University in Downtown Chicago and won several silver and gold medals throughout her career. Her talent does not stop there. She also writes in her school’s Literary Magazine, the
Paperclip.. Her writings earned her numerous awards and her poems were published in poetry anthologies. Aside from being a musician, a writer, a singer, she is also a member of Evanston Township High School’s Urban/Policy Debate Team.and an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Blackhawks and the BULLS.
She enjoys cheering and watching her favorite sports teams as well as hanging out with friends. Still, don’t discount her love of shopping with her mom and sister. Her biggest aspiration in life is to attend Stanford University School of Medicine to specialize in pediatrics or otolaryngology to be able to fulfill her dream of helping the sick and finding ways to better their health.


ILONA TECSON was born on April 4, 1994 in Hoffmann Estates, Il. to Manuel and Cynthia Tecson. Her parent’s hometown is Cotobato City, Philippines. Ilona has 2 siblings, Alexa, 21 our Ms Visayas,
of 2008 and Michael, 16 years old. She goes to Bartlett High School, Bartlett, Il.
A fourth year student, Ilona has been in the Academy of Science, a gifted class in Engineering and High Technology since first year. She has been a consistent High Honor Roll student and also a member of the National Spanish Honor Society. Ilona plays violin and piano and make use of it in their Praise and Worship in church.
Ilona also plays tennis in their varsity badminton team and enjoys running, playing board games and watching movies. She also takes interest in knitting, crocheting, sewing and baking. Her ambition in life is to find a career in the medical field, She would like to help people get well and she thinks she can do this best by being a pharmacist.


JESSICA CHERI MAGDAY was born on November 18, 1996 in Hongkong, China. Her parents are Hilda Famarin and step-father, Van Famarin. You can call her Jessi for short. Jessi has 2 siblings; April Joy Saguitan, 23, and Emma Kristin Famarin, i yr old. Their hometown
in the Philippines is Bayombong, Nueva Viscaya. She is a 9th grader at York Community High School in Elmhurst, Il.
Jessi she received a couple of awards and recognition when she was in 8th grade and this year, she is also given the distinction of being the Student of the Month as well as being one of the students who earned a High Honor Roll status.
Aside from excelling academically, she also received 2 medals and a ribbon for first and second placers in their recent badminton tournament. At this stage, she would like to venture into other sports like volleyball, basketball, and tennis. When asked about her other talents, she responded coyly that she loves singing and dancing. She also added that during weekends, she enjoys going to the mall, being with her family, friends, sisters, teaching nursery rhymes to the little one and having dinner every Saturday at her Auntie Hedy’s place. Her mom, on the other hand, being a good cook, teaches her how to do home cooking and baking.
Finally,when asked what she would like to be someday, she said she would like to be a doctor because aside from getting paid more, she feels that she could be a big help first and foremost to the poor people she loves deeply and care for.


JOEANNA DYAN JABINES is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Joey and Doriz Jabines. She was born on September 29, 1995 at Dipolog City, Philippines.
Joedy, as she is fondly called by her friends, is a Sophomore at Niles West High School at Niles, Illinois. At an early age, she started garnering academic honors and awards. At this time of her high school days, she is again consistently on the honor roll. She was awarded 1st place by Nicor in their Energy Design Poster contest last April 2009. She is a figure
skater and has played piano since she was seven in which she competes at the Granquist Music Competition in Geneva for multiple times already and has won 1st and 2nd places.
Joedy’s ambition is to be an Oncologist someday so she can give
back to the community and help those who are in need. She would like to travel around the world and explore different cultures and ways of life by volunteering to go on medical missions.


LIANNA ROSA LIM, an only child, was born on March 12, 1995 to Marianne de Guzman and Linne Lim.She resides at Addison, Illinois.
Lianna, who goes to Fenton Community High School, wants to pursue a college course in technology, computers and an electronics course. She is also interested in animals and/or culinary arts. She wants to help people around the world and to give back to others who are in need. Her favorite sports are volleyball, basketball and badminton. She loves writing, cooking, socializing, but singing tops them all.
Lianna has received a number of awards, among them:: Citizenship award, perfect attendance for 8 years, Bison Pride and Choir
awards. She cherishes the memory of her road trip to Florida was she was a pre teen. She thinks it was well worth her parents’ time, money and effort.
