Institutionalized Outreach Program
Philippines is a country in Southeast Asia in the Western Pacific Ocean, an archipelago comprised of 7,107 islands and the twelfth most populous nation in the world.
In some remote areas in the third world, including the Philippines, clean and potable water is either scarce or not available. On an average, two out of three people in the rural areas of the Philippines lack access to potable water. This proportion is remarkably higher than the Asian average of one in three people. As we all know, polluted water is one of the major causes of contagious diseases. Thru this internal hydrostatic pressure (artesian wells), clean and potable water can be provided to the whole community.
For a good number of years, through the efforts of the Philippine Week Committee we have conducted outreach programs and put up around 30 artesian wells in several rural areas and are now serving each respective community in Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, La Union, Bicol Province and Davao
In addition to artesian wells for these towns, we shared and distributed to local residents t-shirts, staple foods, vitamins and medicines through our institutionalized outreach program such as;
* Annual Feeding and Gift giving to destitute children and adults
* Medical & Dental Missions
* Operation “tuli” and libreng “gupit”
* Physical as well as spiritual nourishment
Last February of this year Ms Adeline Fajardo, Overall Chair of PWC together with Ms. Alice Ramos, Beauty Pageant Chairman, stewarded the delegation of volunteers. To name a few; Jun Fajardo, Melissa Fajardo and Myrna Mahant. On behalf of PWC, 7 artesian wells were donated in the province of Bicol and Cavite City. Approximately 500 indigent children and adults were beneficiaries of the Annual Outreach Program in Malate, Ermita. They were treated for the whole day by our volunteers with box lunches, give away t-shirts, sardines, rice and noodles, haircut, free consultation and medicine and last but not the least, spiritual nourishment provided through the deacons and deaconess of the church.
The delegation is normally headed yearly by the incumbent overall chairman of PWC & other officers. Past Overall Chairpersons; Jun Ramos, Evelyn Natividad, Alice Ramos, Ely Natividad, Thelma Fuentes and Merly Perricone have made trips to the Philippines in support of these noble goals.
