FilAm Thia Megia, other American Idol finalists and winner to perform in Manila


Filipino-American teen Thia Megia, one of the finalists in the American Idol, will have a concert in Manila next month together with the other finalists.

The show is set on September 20 at the Araneta Coliseum under ETC, Jack TV and Ovation Productions.

The show is dubbed American Idol Live! Tour 2011.

Other American Idol Season 10’s Top 11 finalists who will join the  Araneta Coliseum concert Casey Abrams, Haley Reinhart, Jacob Lusk, James Durbin, Lauren Alaina, Naima Adedapo, Paul McDonald, Pia Toscano, and Stefano Langone.

The Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery will topbill the show.

Usually only the Top 10 of the season go on tour but due to a save by judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, Abrams will join the group of talented finalists on tour.

Performing all on one stage, the Top 11 cover a wide range of musical genres from country, pop, jazz to rock. Watch them perform fan favorites from the show, duets and medley’s of today’s hottest hit songs as well as a few original singles from their individual solo projects.

Thia Megia, whose real name isThialorei Lising Megia, was only 16 when she joined the talent show. She hails from Mountain House, San Joaquin County, California.

Megia was the only female in the top 13 who is also an instrumentalist, a pianist and a guitarist, although she did not play either on American Idol.

Megia was born in Hayward, California, to Cynthya and Loreto Megia. Her parents, originally fromAngeles, Pampanga,  emigrated to the United States in 1968 and changed their name from Mejia to Megia.

Thia attended Eden Gardens Elementary School in Hayward through the sixth grade, but was cyber-schooled online at California Virtual Academy, when the family moved to Mountain House, California.

She has won singing competitions in San Jose and Saratoga and has sung the national anthem at San Jose Giants, Stanford football andSan Francisco 49ers games.

She had her debut concert last March in California.
