Nora Aunor coming home for Emilio Aguinaldo biopic

Is the Superstar Nora Aunor really staging a comeback?

If her friend Suzette Ranillo and Laguna Governor Emilio Ramon (ER) Ejercito are to be asked, Nora will certainly be back in Manila this month or next.

Nora has been invited to play a major part in the biographical movie of President Emilio Aguinaldo which will star Ejercito as Aguinaldo.

The film will be entitled “El Presidente: The Emilio Aguinaldo Story.”

Ejercito is a nephew of former and award-winning actor President Joseph Estrada. In movies, the governor was known as Jorge Estregan Jr.

It was gathered that the movie will be shot in Kawit, Cavite where Aguinaldo led the Philippine Revolution against Spain and proclaimed the Philippine Independence on June 12, 1898.

It will take at least one to two weeks for the shooting of the movie with Nora in August.

For the Laguna governor and actor, it is certain that Nora will be here, adding that she  has agreed to portray the role of Maria Agoncillo, Emilio Aguinaldo’s second wife.

Ranillo has been facilitating the negotiations with Aunor, according to reports of ABS-CBN and PEP.

“Naghihintay na po si Nora. Lahat kami ay excited. Suzette Ranillo is behind it. She’s a good friend of my wife,” said Ejercito.

Pagsanjan, Laguna Mayor Girlie Maita Ejercito is the wife of the Governor.

The exact date of Aunor’s arrival is yet to be determined, he said.

“Ini-schedule po namin ang kanyang pagdating… Nag-i-email na po ang aming grupo sa grupo ni Nora,” said Ejercito, adding that they are set to send Aunor a copy of the film’s script.

Ejercito and his team were reported to be doing everything to make the project irresistible to the super star. Part of the offer is an all-expenses-paid trip to Manila and back to Los Angeles where she is based.

“Nasa kontrata po. [Kasama na pati] ‘Yung kanyang titirhan, board and lodging, food, everything,” the actor-governor said.

“Round-trip ticket po ito. Pati service car… Lahat ng gusto niya ay ibibigay namin,” he said.

Since Aunor’s scenes will be shot in the historic Aguinaldo Shrine, Ejercito said that she will be billeted in a hotel near the location.

Nora has not signed the film contract, he said.

“Pero positive lahat, eh. Lahat ng signs, okay eh.  Nag-i-email na kami… Sayang, kasi maganda ang pelikula. It’s a historical film. It’s a monumental film. Epic ito, eh. Kaya dapat tanggapin niya,” he stressed.

Ejercito said  that famed Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino might also be part of the film.

Rumors of Nora’s comeback has spread as early as two years ago, but nothing concrete has materialized to bring her to Manila again.
