Just as she is about to celebrate the oath-taking of her brother Benigno Aquino III as the new president of the Philippines, popular television host and actress Kris Aquino is bothered by another quarrel with husband James Yap.
Kris herself had admitted on June 16 her latest marital problem in her Twitter account, eliciting reactions, good and bad.
The couple had been married for five years and blessed with a son, James Jr.
The two are still living in the same house, according to close friend marriage on the rocks again Kris Aquino-James Yap Boy Abunda, but admitted that the problem could be the most serious of their “misunderstandings.”
ABS-CBN, the mother studio of Kris, reported extensively on the LQ – love quarrel – without any comment, adding that the matter has not been resolved.
Kris said in her Twitter page that she and Yap, the star of the basketball team B-Meg Derby Ace’s (formerly Purefoods) had a “big misunderstanding.”
She revealed that stress and long hours spent during the campaign period took a toll on their relationship.
She, however, would not elaborate on their LQ. The seriousness of the couple’s quarrel or misunderstanding came to fore again last Tuesday when Kris failed to lead the distribution of school supplies to students of Don Vicente Rama Memorial School in Barangay Basak, Cebu City.
Boy Abunda, Kris’s close friend, participated instead in the “gift-giving” of school supplies in Cebu. “They are not okay yet. So dito tayo nanggagaling. So, kagabi ‘yong narinig ko na nagkaroon ng problema na may kinalaman nga sa kanyang marriage ay hindi na ako nagtanong,” Abunda said.
He added: “Itong nangyari ngayong araw na ito delivers to me a different message na may pinagdadaanang seryoso ang aking kaibigan.”
ABS-CBN reported that Abunda had said he doesn’t know where this would lead, but he stressed that the two are still very much together. “They did try. They were trying. I would speak on behalf of Kris, bilang kaibigan, bilang kapatid, ginawa at patuloy na ginagawa ni Kris ang lahat to save the marriage,” Abunda added.
He appealed for understanding for Kris’s failure to show up in Cebu. He also asked the public to pray for the couple as they go through this difficult stage, according to the network.
Abunda’s wish is for his friend to be happy and have a quiet life as she embarks on a new stage of her life with the upcoming inaugural of Noynoy.
