MAKATI CITY — Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. has ordered an extensive police visibility to further improve the peace and order situation in the city.
Binay said the Makati Police Department has performed well despite the challenges it is facing, and the deployment of additional policemen and augmentation forces “will contribute greatly in further ensuring peace and order” in Makati.
“Their presence serves as a deterrent to crime and assures residents and foreign investors alike that they are secure in Makati,” the mayor said.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Makati Police Community Precinct (PCP) 9 killed a 24-year-old suspect in an internet shop robbery in Makati on Sunday night.
Police Officer 3 Rico Caramat, case investigator, identified the fatality as Ronnie Basco, who engaged two patrolling policemen in a shootout after he robbed the Dalimara Internet Cafe along J.P. Rizal Street in Barangay Poblacion, Makati.
Caramat said the two policemen first tried to apprehend Basco, but he fired at the lawmen with his caliber .38 handgun, triggering a brief shootout.
Recovered from Basco, who died instantly, were several wallets and three cellular phones, police said
